Important information on insulin copays

The cost of insulin has been lowered to:

  • A $30 copay for a 30-day supply through a participating pharmacy
  • A $60 copay for a 90-day supply through Aetna Mail Order or Aetna Maintenance Choice

(Participants in the Aetna Savings and Aetna Basic Health Plans do not have to meet their deductible first as they do for other prescriptions)

You can fill their prescriptions through the following options:

  • Pick up the first 30-day supply of insulin for $30 at a participating in-network retail pharmacy
  • Use one of the following programs for your second fill and beyond:
    • The Maintenance Choice program* allows you to get a 90-day supply of insulin for $60 through a participating CVS retail pharmacy. This can help you save money on all long-term prescription drugs in place of using Aetna’s mail order program. Through this program, you have the convenience of picking up your prescriptions the same day with only a trip to the pharmacy.
    • The CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy offers free shipping to your home on a 90-day supply of insulin for $60, 24/7 access to pharmacists and safety checks for drug interactions.

You can order prescriptions using the CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy, call 833-383-2650 (prompt 4) or log on to Aetna.com.
